Uploading Guest Data in CSV Files.

Introduction

You can submit guest information into GuestReg by either manually entering the data into an on-line form, or by uploading a CSV (Comma Separate Value) file. Many programs can create CSV files, notably MS Excel, but you can also create one with a text editor.

Data File Format

Each line of the CSV file contains either a comment or a line of data. Comments begin with the '#' character. Data lines contain exactly three fields, the guest's Email address, Name, and street Address. You must supply the Email field, but the other two fields can be blank. However, if the Name and/or Address fields are blank, then the guest will have to supply their values when he/she registers, and an event administrator will then need to review and approve the information.

Commas separate the fields on each line. If the fields themselves contain commas (for example the address field is "John Doe, 100 Main Street, Storrs, CT 06268") then you must enclose the field double quotes. You may always put double quotes around a field, even if it doesn't contain a comma. See below for examples.
